Homemade Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits
Dough 2½ cups whole wheat or flour
1 egg
1 cup peanut butter* (pumpkin or sweet potato)
1 cup water2 tablespoons honey
*Make sure your peanut butter does not contain Xylitol as this is toxic to dogs.
Frosting ⅓ cup cornstarch
2 Tbsp peanut butter
1 Tbsp honey
3-4 Tbsp hot water
Preheat oven to 350F. In a large bowl, combine flour and egg. Add peanut butter, water, and honey and stir until you have a very stiff and sticky dough. Refrigerate for an hour. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough about one half inch thick. Use cookie cutters to make fun shapes. Bake for 10-20 minutes depending on the size of the shapes, until golden brown. Set aside to cool, while you mix frosting. Combine the peanut butter and honey in a microwavable bowl. Heat in the microwave, stirring every 15 seconds until melted. Stir in cornstarch until just combined. Slowly add water until you have reached a spreadable consistency. When cookies are cool, frost cookies with a piping bag, or for thicker frostings, spread with spatula. Store in an airtight container. Makes approx. 24
